Abedi Pele, African football legend, claims that Ghanaians critique his sons, Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew, due to their football prowess as reported by 3news.com

He believes the constant criticism stems from Ghanaians acknowledging their capabilities and expecting even more from them. Pele draws parallels between his own playing days and the scrutiny his sons face, attributing it to their potential for success.

“They have never got it wrong. What I can say is that they’ve never left me alone. When I was playing it was the same, so there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s because they know you have it and you can do it that’s why they come at you. If you don’t have it, nobody will call your name,” Pele expressed to Sammy Yeboah, as reported by Ghanaweb.

Andre and Jordan Ayew, despite facing criticism, retain the trust of Black Stars coach Chris Hughton, who deems them crucial for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. Both sons have had successful careers and aspire to continue their father’s legacy. Andre holds the record for Ghana’s most capped player, while Jordan boasts over 90 games for the Black Stars.
