Ghana coach Otto Addo has left out Andre Ayew from the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic as reported by Kick.com.

Ayew, who has captained the Black Stars since 2019, was not included in the team for the matches scheduled for June. Despite an impressive season at Le Havre, scoring six goals in 20 matches, the 34-year-old has not been invited. Ayew is Ghana’s most-capped player, with 120 appearances and 24 goals since his debut in 2007.

Addo is set to announce the final squad on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Ghana Football Association headquarters in Accra. The team will begin their training camp in Accra on May 30, 2024, and will train at the University of Ghana Stadium before departing for Bamako on June 4, 2024.

Ghana aims to improve their performance after one win and one loss in their initial Group I matches. They beat Madagascar 1-0 in Kumasi but lost 1-0 to Comoros in Moroni. The qualifiers will see Ghana face Mali at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako on June 6, 2024, and the Central African Republic at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on June 10, 2024.
