Here's Ghana's position on latest FIFA rankings

Ghana’s Black Stars have dropped four places in the latest FIFA rankings, now sitting at 77th globally and 14th in Africa.

This decline follows their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a poor run in the qualifiers. The team earned just three points from three draws and lost three games, including a 2-1 defeat to Niger, which confirmed their bottom-place finish in Group F.

Despite these setbacks, Ghana remains 14th in Africa, but they trail nations like Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, Niger, one of Ghana’s rivals in Group F, saw a notable rise in the rankings, climbing nine spots from 131st to 122nd.

Ghana’s drop in the rankings comes as no surprise, given their struggles throughout 2024. The Black Stars’ highest ranking this year was 67th in February, followed by 68th in April, 64th in June, 68th in July, 70th in September, and 73rd in October.

Looking ahead, Ghana will aim to bounce back in March when they begin their 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The team will be eager to improve their performances and regain momentum in order to climb the rankings and secure a spot in the next World Cup.
