In an interview with MzGee on Just Being Us, Paintsil shared how his personal struggles, including a divorce, escalated into public controversy. The media reported that he had stabbed his ex-wife, an accusation he firmly denied. Despite this, the rumors caused him to lose a lucrative contract and led to his arrest.

“It was difficult; I had no contract for 4 years. No team wanted to sign me,” Paintsil revealed. His mother’s unwavering support and prayers helped him survive this challenging period.

Reflecting on his career, Paintsil emphasized the importance of determination, respect, hard work, and teamwork in sports. “You can’t fight your teammates. If you make enemies in the team, they won’t want you,” he advised, underscoring the power of unity in football.
