The Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong has made some bold claims about the current price of tomatoes on the market.
In a video circulating online, the minister is seen engaging some tomato sellers after which he mentioned that tomato prices have reduced drastically on the market.
The minister claimed that the prices for a box of tomatoes have dropped to as low as GHS400 and GHS500.
Not long ago, tomato prices on the market shot up to as high as GHS3000 per box.
A situation the Ministry of Agriculture led by Bryan Acheampong received a lot of backlash for.
Ghanaians, especially those in the capital complained bitterly about the hike with some calling for the dismissal of the minister.
The video circulating was self-recorded by the minister in what seems to be a response to all the backlash he received.

This, actor cum farmer and now National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, responding to one of the videos on social media said the prices will keep dropping.
“This is not rocket science,” Dumelo said.
Reason being “a lot of farmers are harvesting because they use rain as water source. We will soon have a glut.”
He added that the only way to stabilize tomato prices is to invest in irrigation systems.
“What we should invest in is serious irrigation systems that can power farms to feed the nation all year round.”
