The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, was furious when some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region failed to show up at an event to introduce a policy to promote local economic development.

All 29 MMDCEs were absent at launch of the Local Economic Development (LED) Policy (2024 – 2029) yesterday, September 10,2024, which started at about 9:30am – about an hour and half late than its proposed starting time.

When he took to the stage, Mr. Titus-Glover urged MMDCEs to identify themselves as he stood at the stage to address the attendees, who included officials from academics and development partners, but none were there.

Mr. Titus-Glover, a former Tema East member of parliament, was furious and declared that the chief executives would have to give an explanation for their absence.

“We have come here to launch a policy on how to improve on your local economies and none of you is here? Such an important exercise and none of them is here?

“These are the things they do and people blame we the politicians. They think we are close to elections so they can do what they like? We shall see,” the irate Mr Titus-Glover bemoaned.

He added that he is going to deal with them and has directed his Chief Director to query them.
