A friend of the VIP driver who tragically lost his life in the accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Obretema near Suhum that killed about seven people on Sunday, September 23, 2024, has placed blame on the death oh his colleague on other VIP bus drivers.
According to him, the friend lost his life due to envy and jealousy from other drivers because he had received a new bus.

He claimed that the bus driver was involved in the collision because he was driving a new car that several other drivers envied, which made them target him.
So he cannot blame the tanker driver his friend collided with on the highway.
“VIP drivers you see what you’ve done, I will not blame anyone, not even the tanker driver but ourselves as VIP drivers.
“You are jealous because a new car was bought for your friend to work, have you seen what you’ve caused now? He’s dead now, what would you benefit from it?” the bereaved friend quizzed.
A VIP driver has blamed his colleague’s deàth in last Saturday’s VIP bus and fuel tanker cràsh, which claimed seven l!ves, on fellow VIP drivers rather than on the fuel tanker driver.

The crash on Sunday was a head-collision between the VIP bus and tanker, and led to the death immediate death of two females and five males.
The VIP bus travelling from Tamale to Accra, with registration number GR 7632-24, was hit by the tanker with registration number UE 9644-22 after one of its tyres bursted on the highway.
The accident happened at around 4:30am with both drivers dying on the spot.

31 people were reported injured and rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.
