The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service burnt large quantities of narcotics worth millions of cedis at the Black Star Square in Accra.
Among the things that were destroyed were three medium-sized buckets full of heroin, 248 fertiliser sacks, 315 wraps, 24 sachets, and 68 compressed slabs of different drugs.

This police followed orders by the Accra Circuit Court from 2020 to 2024 to destroy the narcotic drugs.
Speaking to the media, the Registrar at the Accra Circuit Court, Prosper Kingsley Damakah, said the cases involving the narcotics have already been handled by the court.
“We are here to destroy some substances – cocaine, dry leaves thus cannabis, after those cases have been dealt with by the court,” he said.
Representatives from the Judicial Service and the Narcotics Control Commission were present when the drugs were burned at the coast behind Black Star Square in Accra.
