Nii Dr. Adote Dzata I has called on the Ghana Kickboxing Association to intensify efforts in promoting kickboxing and combat sports for self-defense and personal protection. Speaking at the launch of the 2024 African Open at Decathlon Sports Shop in Kawukudi, he emphasized the need for professional organization, noting that kickboxing is both exciting and financially rewarding.

Vice President of the federation, Steavano Tuekpe, highlighted the discipline gained from the sport, while President Yakubu Abdul Razak, also known as “Commando,” encouraged parents to involve their children, as the sport is growing globally. He praised Ghana’s world-class fighters, such as Lawrence Nmai and Nii Dzata, for their achievements.
Boxing consultant Yoofi Boham urged the federation to better manage the sport, stressing its value for self-defense. He also encouraged fighters to stay fit and focused.
The 2024 African Open will feature three major titles, with winners serving as ambassadors to promote the sport. Corporate sponsors, including Decathlon and Twellium Industries, have pledged their support for the event and future initiatives.
