Farouk Ibrahim, who makes a living fitting Tyre in Accra, has been handed a 15-year imprisonment sentence after being found guilty of mobile phone theft. Ibrahim pleaded not guilty, but the evidence was against him.
Ruth Armah, a cashier, and Emerald Tetteh, who is self-employed, were the victims of his crime. They were returning from a party when Ibrahim, on his Red Royal motorcycle, threatened them with a pistol and made off with their phones. Ruth’s iPhone 11 and Emerald’s Infinix 5s were valued at GH¢3,000.00 and GH¢306.00, respectively.
Ibrahim was later apprehended by the Dansoman police in relation to a separate assault case. Following his identification by the victims, he was re-arrested, charged, and subsequently convicted for the robbery.
