A Magistrate Court in Mampong, Ashanti Region, has sentenced 23-year-old Sumaila Abdul Rahman to 12 months in prison for stealing meters from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).
Abdul Rahman was arraigned on October 14, 2024, just four days after his arrest, with State Prosecutor Chief Inspector Richard Obeng Asare presenting the case, leading to his swift sentencing.
In a related incident, Priscilla Amofa is in custody at the Kumasi Central Police Station for illegally reconnecting water services, while her accomplice, Nana Adu, remains at large. These incidents have sparked concerns about the security of water supply systems in the region.
