Reports suggest that Black Stars’ captain Andre Ayew is deep in negotiations with French Ligue 1 newcomers Le Havre, indicating a potential imminent agreement between both parties. The 33-year-old recently concluded his stint with Premier League’s Nottingham Forest, initially joining from Qatari giants Al Sadd on a six-month deal earlier in the year.
Following the non-extension of his contract at the City Grounds, Ayew, a versatile attacker, currently finds himself without a club. Despite initial links to teams in Saudi Arabia and the MLS during the summer window, no deals materialized.
However, a positive development has emerged as the former West Ham United star engages in advanced discussions with Le Havre, aiming for a return to the French top-flight, where he initially made his mark.
Le Havre, having secured qualification back into the top division for the first time since 2008 as winners of Ligue 2 last season, presents an appealing opportunity for Ayew’s career resurgence.
After being absent from the last Black Stars call-up, Ayew has returned for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.
