IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare has issued a stern warning to individuals terrorising traders in the market, vowing that the police will take action against them. This was announced during a police-public engagement with the Secondhand Traders Association at Kantamanto, where traders expressed concerns over their customers being harassed by pickpockets, swindlers, and robbers.
Addressing these concerns, Dr Dampare, backed by the Police Management Board, promised to deploy personnel to ensure a safe trading environment. He emphasized the importance of personal security, suggesting traders transition to electronic means of transaction to avoid carrying large sums of money. In response to a potential arson threat, Dr Dampare assured the traders of police collaboration with the Fire Service to prevent market fires, especially during the Harmattan Season.
