From 2024, GRA imposes 10% tax on lotto wins

The GRA has begun enforcing a tax on both the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and private lotto operators (PLOs). This move, although criticized by punters, is seen by the GRA as an important step in generating revenue and contributing to national development.

This enforcement follows a six-month grace period that was granted for preparation. Non-compliance could lead to penalties under Section 78 of the Revenue Administration Act, 2016 (Act 915).
