Accra has lost one of its beloved waakye sellers, Auntie Muni, whose death was announced today. According to Asaase Radio, she sadly passed away in the early hours of January 3 at the University of Ghana Medical Center in Accra. Her son, Arafat, shared that she had been ill and initially sought treatment at the SNNIT Hospital, but complications led to her discharge.

Despite being discharged, her condition didn’t improve and she was rushed back to the University of Ghana Medical Centre. Tragically, she passed away at 3 am this morning. Arafat also revealed that Auntie Muni will be laid to rest today in Tamale, following Muslim rites and customs.
