The Cyber Security Authority is sounding the alarm on a significant uptick in job-related scams hitting the nation. With a worrying 15 incidents reported to their cybercrime and cybersecurity contact points, victims have collectively lost upwards of GH₵124,000. The CSA is cautioning the public to be wary of unexpected job offers arriving via messages, which are often the work of con artists masquerading as employers to dupe job seekers.
The CSA warns that exceptionally high salaries for minimal work are classic signs of a scam. They urge job hunters to trust their instincts—if an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. Red flags include poor language and shoddy communication in job listings, signaling the offer isn’t legitimate. The Authority advises thorough checks of job ads, suggesting confirmation through a company’s official contact channels rather than relying on just emails or messages. Sharing personal or financial details should be off the table unless the job’s authenticity is fully assured.
