Mohammed Kudus, the Black Stars midfielder, responded to Ghana’s premature Africa Cup of Nations departure, asserting that the team bears full responsibility for their disappointing performance in Cote d’Ivoire.

Despite Ghana’s overall lackluster showing in the tournament, Kudus shone on his debut, securing a brace in the 2-2 draw against Egypt. Additionally, he earned Ghana a penalty in the final match against Mozambique in Ebimpe.

Regrettably, Kudus’ outstanding individual performance couldn’t salvage Ghana’s fate, as ‘silly’ mistakes in all three matches proved costly for the Black Stars.

In Kudus’ own words, “Falling short at my debut AFCON is a hard reality we face together, but as a playing body, we take full responsibility. We deeply regret not meeting your hopes this time. Your enduring support is our motivation to make you proud in the future,” wrote the West Ham United star.

While Kudus missed the opening day defeat to Cape Verde, he emerged as the difference-maker in the last two matches, earning Man of the Match awards for both games.

He is anticipated to return to England this week to rejoin his West Ham teammates for the second part of the league.
