In a dramatic courtroom scene, Benjamin Aboakye, known in the music world as Rapture, was overwhelmed with despair as he was handed a 35-year prison sentence for robbery, exclaiming his worry for his children’s future without him. Amos Tetteh, a driver and Rapture’s accomplice, received a 10-year sentence for his role in the crime. Both men had maintained their innocence throughout the two-year trial, only to plead for leniency at the final judgment.

The Adenta Circuit Court, led by Her Honour Sedinam Awo Balokah, delivered the sentences on January 24, 2024. Aboakye faced a dual sentence of 20 years for conspiracy and 35 years for robbery, to be served concurrently, while Tetteh’s reaction to his 10-year sentence for abetment was so severe that he fainted, although he later recovered.
