Ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is spotlighting its “Believe in Sport” campaign to combat competition manipulation. This initiative educates athletes, entourages, and officials on the risks and regulations related to sports manipulation.

Team Ghana athletes and officials participated in a workshop to learn about these rules.

The campaign features webinars, educational materials, and online courses to inform athletes about the consequences of manipulating competitions for financial, sporting, or other gains. Six athlete ambassadors will support the campaign by engaging with peers and promoting the message both online and in person at the Athlete365 House in the Olympic Village.

The IOC has also implemented measures to maintain competition integrity. The Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions offers model rules, awareness campaigns, and an intelligence system. Additionally, the Integrity Betting Intelligence System (IBIS) facilitates information sharing between the Olympic Movement and betting entities to detect and prevent manipulation.
