The Greater Accra Region triumphed at the 14th Korean Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championships, held last Saturday at the Ga Mashie Hall of the Trust Sports Emporium in Accra. Led by Coach Fayise Selorm, the region amassed 185 points, winning nine gold, eight silver, and 12 bronze medals.

Volta Region secured second place with 72 points, followed by Ashanti with 68 points. Upper East and Northern Regions rounded out the top five. Other participating regions included Eastern, Bono, Upper West, Western, and Central.
Ghana Taekwondo Federation President, Mr. Lartey Otu, emphasized the championship’s role in preparing young athletes for the 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal. He praised participants and urged continued training.
The Republic of Korea Ambassador, H.E. K.S. Park, highlighted Taekwondo’s growing popularity in Ghana and pledged support for the 2026 Youth Olympics.
The event featured competitions in Kyorugi and Poomsae for athletes aged 13 to 17. James Sedoh and Zitta Tornyevah were named best male and female juniors, respectively.
The championship was deemed a success, offering valuable exposure for up-and-coming athletes and referees.
