“We are fully aware of the costs and maintenance requirements associated with the stadium, and it’s important for the public to understand that social gatherings, in addition to football games, are permitted at these venues,” Mensah explained.
She elaborated that during the football off-season, the absence of games necessitates alternative income sources to keep the facilities in good condition. “Holding social events during these periods can serve as a crucial income stream to ensure the upkeep of the stadium,” she noted.
Addressing concerns about potential damages from these events, Mensah reassured that measures are in place. “We are awaiting the arrival of our pitch covers, but in the meantime, we have a contingency plan. We have an agreement with the organizing church to cover any damages that may occur.”
Mensah urged Ghanaians not to worry, emphasizing that the National Sports Authority is actively seeking alternative ways to maintain the stadium. “We have set a deadline for ourselves, and work on the field has already commenced.”
Finally, she assured the public that the pitch would be in excellent condition for any authorized games, including those of the Black Stars and the CAF interclub competition. “I can assure Ghanaians that the pitch will be well-maintained and ready for any scheduled matches,” she concluded.
