Police Officers warned: by who and why?

Interior Minister, Henry Quartey has issued a strong warning to officers of the Ghana Police Service to keep the new 320 houses built for them sanitary at all times.

He urged them to maintain high standards of cleanliness and shy away from the usual untidy habits seen in police barracks.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony last week, the minister said government expect the police officers to maintain the facility well at all times.

He added that fridges, curtains, bicycles, freezers and many other items often seen cluttered at police barracks should become a thing of the past at the new facility.

As part of government’s efforts to improve the living conditions of police officers, President Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned 320 new housing units at the National Police School in Tesano, Accra.

The 320-unit housing project is made up of seven blocks of two-bedroom apartments and 13 blocks of three-bedroom apartments. Each block contains sixteen apartments.
