Former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Alberta Afia Akoto, has taken legal action against Hiplife artiste Kwame Asare Obeng, known as Kwame A-Plus, for defamation, seeking damages of GH¢5 million.

Akoto, who is part of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, filed a writ before a High Court in Accra, accusing A-Plus of making unsubstantiated allegations on his Facebook page.

The claims allegedly include accusations that she sends nude pictures and neglects her private hygiene, suggesting she lacks discretion and engages in indiscriminate sexual activities.

Facing difficulties in serving the writ, Akoto secured a court order for substituted service, allowing her to post a copy on the court’s notice board and send copies to A-Plus via WhatsApp, Facebook, and email for 14 days.

Akoto, a former Deputy Director of Communication for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asserts that the allegations are fabrications with no truth, made with the intent to damage her reputation and cause disaffection.
