A young Ghanaian woman from Abuakwa-Tanoso in the Ashanti Region, Juliet Dwumor, is presently stranded in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and she is pleading with Ghanaians and the government for assistance in her evacuation.

She claimed to have spoken with an agency to arrange her international travel for better opportunities.

She was informed about employment prospects in Iraq by the agent, who also assured her of getting her a job cleaning hotels.

She expressed interest in the work and followed through on the procedure.

But the agent’s assurance proved to be false when she arrived in Iraq, she was instead given the opportunity to work as a housekeeper.

She finds the severe treatment and high levels of stress associated with this profession to be intolerable.

She added that she started working about a year ago, and she still hasn’t received her salary.

After Juliet told her employers she was going back to Ghana, they refused to let her go until she paid them $3,000 in addition to the price of her plane ticket.

Juliet is therefore calling on well-meaning Ghanaians and the government to assist her return to the country.
