This year’s edition of the annual G.T Oddoye Memorial Junior Tennis Championship has kickstarted today at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club (ALTC).
Over 300 children from various locations across the capital and beyond are expected to take part in the 2024 edition.

Speaking to the media yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grandmaster Tennis Events, organisers of the championship, Mr Peter Annan, said that the eighth edition would attract children from Techiman, Tema, Ashaiman, Winneba, Akropong-Akuapem, Takoradi and Accra
He said that games would be played every day from 9am to 3pm.
However, Mr. Annan, who also serves as the tournament coordinator, said that the semifinal and championship games would begin at 1pm.
Boys and girls are welcome to participate in the tournament.
They would compete in singles and doubles competitions for U-10, U-12, U-14, and U-16 age groups.
It will be sponsored by Akai House in remembrance of the late G.T. Oddoye.

The finals and awards ceremony are anticipated to take place on Saturday, capping the competition.
