There was massive traffic jam at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra around 1pm today as some trotro drivers and Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) taskforce officers engaged in a heated argument on the side of the road leading out of the busy station.

A trotro driver was stopped by the city taskforce officials for allegedly violating traffic regulations just beneath the interchange on the stretch leading to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) road from the main market area.

The driver together with one spare driver, named Mohammed, and a mate refused to comply to directives of the city taskforce officials upon stopping them, resulting in a heated argument.

Mohammed said the city taskforce officials have been harassing them and alleged that they once extorted money from them.

Therefore, upon being stopped by the same officials today, he declined to comply with their directions even though the main driver of the trotro was willing to solve the issue amicably.

This brawl resulted in a massive traffic jam as the packed trotro blocked some vehicles from freely moving out of the busy bus station.

The traffic situation only begun to ease up after some police officers on patrol duties intervened to resolve the misunderstanding.

The police directed the trotro driver to move the vehicle out of the road, and left as the city taskforce officials tried talking to Mohammed.

One metro guard alleged that Mohammed pulled a knife on him and so was adamant to let the three go scot free.
