The trial of the man who vandalised the ‘Big Six’ monument at Kotoka International Airport Roundabout has been adjourned to Wednesday, September 18, 2024, by the Kwabenya Circuit Court.
The accused, Newwel Gavu, who was captured vandalising the monuments in the capital, was arrested and referred for mental health assessment.

However, the mental health report had not been filed as at the time the case was called for trial yesterday, September 10, 2024.
State attorney, Natalie Korkor Hammond, said that the trial of the case would depend on the results of the mental health assessment.
“We are hoping to prosecute the case when we get the result. The last time he was in court, he was acting weird, so the judge requested a psychiatric assessment of him before a decision is made,” Hammond noted.
The investigator was absent from court yesterday.
Gavu was caught on video vandalising the statue of the Big Six at the Airport Roundabout, near Airport Shell on Saturday, August 31, 2024, around 3:59am.
The police were later and informed about the situation by witnesses around and the suspect was later apprehended.

In the meantime, reports say that plans are advanced by the Ghana Airport Company to replace the destroyed monuments.
