Traders at Salaga market in Accra have expressed worry about the low patronage of their goods at the market.

They say the market center has been neglected and remained unfinished despite several years of promises by politicians.

This, according to the traders, has made the Salaga Market hidden from potential buyers and customers, affecting their daily sales.

“7 years of broken promises. Our market remains unfinished, hidden from buyers, and our businesses are suffering,” one trader recounted.

They say their tired of the constant lies by politicians who come to promise them renovation works at the market especially during election years.

“No leader finishes what they start. We are not here for politics, but our well-being. There’s nothing tangible to show for our situation at Salaga Market, Accra. We need change,” another trader passionately remarked.

The sanitation situation due to the state of market is also to traders at the market.

As one trader explains: “Apart from authorities deceiving us about completing the market, some traders here continue to complicate issues for all of us. We dredge the gutters today, and the next day, you see a trader emptying their bins into the same gutter.”
