A 24-year-old man, Prince Kofi Okyere, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Accra Circuit Court for stealing two mobile phones. Okyere, a labourer, pleaded guilty to charges of stealing, abetment of crime, and unlawful entry. The court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, convicted Okyere based on his guilty plea.

However, sentencing for his accomplice, Daniel Obeng, was deferred as he was not present in court during the proceedings. Obeng had been charged alongside Okyere for his involvement in the crime.

According to Chief Inspector of Police Asumah Ramata, Okyere had gone to Laboma Beach Resort in Accra on August 12 to seek employment from the complainants, Taiwo Adaremi and Adepaju Kehinde, both Nigerians. After being told there was no job available, Okyere stayed behind, unlawfully entered their room, and stole two iPhones valued at GHC5,800. He later met with Obeng, a mobile phone dealer, and together they sold the stolen phones for GHC600 at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
