Is Ghana ready for AFCON qualifiers? CAF’s decision is in!

After uncertainty surrounding Ghana’s ability to host the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the country has received official confirmation. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the Accra Sports Stadium for the TotalEnergies 2025 AFCON Matchday 3 qualifier between Ghana and Sudan.

In a statement addressed to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, CAF expressed satisfaction with the facilities after a thorough inspection. The statement read:

“Following a comprehensive review of the reports of the CAF independent inspection regarding the Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadia, we are pleased to inform you that the Accra Sports Stadium has been approved to host the AFCON Qualifiers for Morocco 2025.”

This decision brings relief to fans and the football community, as hosting the qualifier is a key step for Ghana on the road to the prestigious tournament.
