The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued one person trapped beneath the debris after an uncompleted building collapsed in Teshie, Accra.
The uncompleted building under construction in Teshie Estates collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

The casualty was rescued under the debris through the timely intervention of firefighters from Trade Fair and National Fire Service Headquarters.
The cause of the collapse has not been established by GNFS yet.
Meanwhile, investigations are to be carried out by the service to determine the cause of the collapse.
A similar incident occurred last month at Kasoa Timber Market, just outside Accra, where three persons lost their lives after a two-storey building collapsed.
The three deceased were a carpenter and two female students, aged 16 and 18, from an unnamed vocational institute.
Four more people were pulled from the wreckage by a combined crew from the GNFS Headquarters and the Kasoa Fire Service Station.
Several other were also confirmed injured and rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The cause of the Kasoa builiding collapse was linked to structural defects in the building.

Assistant Divisional Officer of the GNFS Public Affairs Unit, Alex King Nartey, was quoted saying: “from what our men on the ground have gathered, there were significant structural deficits in the construction of this building,” in a media after the incident.
