Two Perish in Fiery Accident at East Legon

Two unidentified individuals were killed in a tragic accident on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at East Legon, Accra. CCTV footage revealed that the crash was caused by overspeeding, resulting in a fatal collision. Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) officer ADO Nartey confirmed that one body has been retrieved, while firefighters are working to recover another body trapped in the wreckage. The victims were traveling in an Artura vehicle, which struck a wooden electric pole during the crash.

A video shared by the GNFS on Facebook shows firefighters using specialized equipment to cut through the charred remains of the vehicles, as smoke continues to rise from the scene. Among the victims were two young women whose bodies were burned beyond recognition. The impact from the crash caused electrical cables to fall, sparking a fire that consumed both vehicles. Authorities are investigating the incident, which has left the East Legon community in shock, with the identification of the victims still pending.
