Kasoa Cholera outbreak: 5 dead, 30 others hospitalised.

Five people have been confirmed dead due to the outbreak of Cholera at Kasoa, just outside Accra. 

The outbreak has also resulted in the hospitalisation of some 30 additional people to the Mother and Child Hospital and the Kasoa Polyclinic. 

The Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Anita Love Obo Amissah, confirmed this saying that three of the victims passed away on Thursday night, while the other two did so on Friday afternoon.

“As I speak to you, five persons have unfortunately lost their lives because of this disease,” she told reporters following last Friday’s tour of the Kasoa Polyclinic.

The majority of cases in the Kasoa New Market Health Center, she said, were referred to the Kasoa Polyclinic.  

According to her, there were roughly 21 cases as of last Thursday, and the following day, that number rose to thirty.  

Ms. Amissah added that cases recorded in the Gomoa East and Awutu Senya West Districts were also transferred to Kasoa. 

The majority of the cases that were sent to the Kasoa Polyclinic were handled by the physicians and nurses there, for which she expressed gratitude.

She urged residents to maintain good hygiene at all times and be careful of what they eat.
