The charges stem from a contentious encounter with an employee from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). During a routine inspection at Shaibu’s shop, the ECG team discovered an unauthorized switch from a prepaid to a postpaid meter.

The case is currently under review in an Accra circuit court. The situation underscores the severity of electricity theft and its legal consequences.
