They have all been remanded into police custody and are expected to reappear in court on October 8, and October 11, 2024.

Ama Governor was arrested together with other protestors at 37 in Accra during the three-day three-day #ReOccuplyJulorbiHouse protest by Democracy Hub against illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey, for engaging in acts police described as “unlawful,” “unpatriotic,” and “un-Ghanaian.”

She said she had been kept in police custody for over 48 hours without food or water when she made her way to Circuit Court 10 for her trial today.

Sister-in-law of the pregnant woman, Evangelist Winnie, said she and her husband had stopped to take pictures of the protest at 37 when they were arrested and detained by the police.

Evangelist Winnie said her sister-in-law is four months pregnant, and her brother is currently recovering from surgery and on medication.

According to the Evangelist, their Toyota Corolla have also not been located since their arrest.
