Ex-Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has opened up about the harrowing incident of his friend Castro’s disappearance. Gyan revealed that in the wake of the tragedy, he reached out to then-president John Mahama for help. In a swift response demonstrating the urgency of the situation, Mahama deployed 10 helicopters to the Ada area to aid in the search for the missing musician.

Gyan and Castro, whose real name was Theophilus Tagoe, shared a close bond that transcended their professional lives. The duo, known for their collaborations in music, were on holiday at the Ada Estuary when the unfortunate incident occurred. Despite the passage of nine years, the whereabouts of Castro and his companion Janet Bandu remain unknown. Gyan’s recollection of Mahama’s immediate action after being informed of Castro’s drowning underscores the gravity of the situation at the time.
