A 56-year-old Quantity Surveyor, Christian Setsoafia aka “Stone”, has been accused of defrauding a driver out of GH¢4,000.00. Setsoafia allegedly promised the driver two plots of land at Domeabra, which never materialized. He pleaded not guilty to the charges of defrauding by false pretense at an Accra Circuit Court.
The complainant, Etse Sosu, resides at Glefe near Dansoman and first encountered Setsoafia in October 2012. Sosu, who was seeking two plots of land for his wife and mother-in-law, was shown two plots by Setsoafia, who claimed they were his. Sosu paid GH¢4,000 for the plots and was given a receipt of payment and a site plan by Setsoafia, who then encouraged him to begin building on the land.

However, after constructing two separate single rooms on each of the plots, Sosu’s buildings were demolished. Despite being promised replacement land by Setsoafia, and constructing on two further plots, Sosu’s buildings were again demolished and he was chased off the third plot by land guards. Realizing Setsoafia had no genuine land to offer, Sosu requested a refund of his money. The case has been adjourned to December 12, 2023.
