The Ghana Football Association delivered unexpected news to all 18 Premier League clubs, revealing that betpawa has decided to withdraw as the headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Initially hailed as the official headline sponsor for a three-year tenure starting from August 3, 2022, BetPawa’s sudden departure marks a significant shift from the anticipated partnership. The announcement of this sponsorship took place in a ceremonious event held at the Ghana Football Association headquarters in Accra, setting high hopes for the league’s development.

However, the GFA convened a meeting today at 11 AM to officially communicate BetPawa’s decision to retract its sponsorship. Surprisingly, the GFA had been aware of this impending decision since June, indicating a prolonged period of awareness leading up to the official announcement.

The withdrawal of BetPawa’s sponsorship has left both clubs and players grappling with the repercussions of unmet contractual obligations. This sudden disinterest has sparked questions about the future financial stability and support for the Ghana Premier League, necessitating swift action by the Ghana Football Association to secure alternative sponsorship avenues for the league’s sustainability.
