The final saw Nigeria take a decisive early lead with Kparabo Arieri scoring twice in the first half. Ghana’s Jerry Afriyie pulled one back in the 75th minute, igniting hope for a comeback. Afriyie, whose impressive performance throughout the tournament earned him both the Golden Boot and the MVP title, continued to press for another goal, but Nigeria held on to defend their title successfully.

ghana showed determination and fought to the end, missing several key chances in the second half that might have turned the tide. The Black Satellites can still look forward to the 2025 AFCON Championship after their previous success in 2021, where they lifted the trophy.

Coach Desmond Ofei and his team can celebrate the achievement of AFCON qualification, as the WAFU B U20 Championship also serves as the gateway to Africa’s U-20 tournament. There, the stakes will be higher, as the 2025 AFCON will also act as the qualifier for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, where the top four teams will advance.

Ghana’s journey now pivots to next year’s AFCON tournament, with players like Afriyie leading the charge. His five-goal tally and MVP honors signal his potential to be a game-changer, setting Ghana up for a promising run. While the Black Satellites narrowly missed out on the WAFU B title, their spirited display and qualification mark a step forward, hinting at even greater ambitions on the AFCON stage.
