An Adentan Circuit Court has sentenced a businessman to five years imprisonment in absentia for fraud.
The businessman, Lambert Afedo, according to the prosecution, defrauded a medical officer at the Madina Polyclinic of GHS50,495.
He took the amount under the pretext of purchasing three auctioned Toyota Vitz cars from the Tema port but failed to provide the cars to the medical officer since 2020.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge but stopped attending court after the prosecution filed its disclosures and trial commenced.
