The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a remarkable 40% rise in prize money for the winners of the upcoming 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire. The victorious team will now receive a substantial total of USD 7,000,000 (N6.2 billion), while the runners-up will secure USD 4,000,000, a notable increase from prior rewards.

Teams reaching the semi-finals will earn USD 2,500,000 each, with quarter-finalists granted USD 1,300,000. Dr. Patrice Motsepe, CAF President, expressed contentment with the progress made, highlighting the commitment to boost prize money not just for AFCON but also for other key CAF tournaments.
“CAF has made significant strides in the past two years, elevating AFCON and other major competitions’ prize money. The AFCON Winner’s prize now stands at USD 7,000,000, a 40% increase,” said Dr. Motsepe, foreseeing this increase benefiting football’s growth and development.
