The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted an Exceptional Approval for FC Samartex 1996 and Nsoatreman FC to use Accra Sports Stadium for their debut in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, respectively. This follows the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) re-certification request.

Despite the approval, CAF noted that the stadium remains ineligible for Category 3 matches, such as CAF Interclub Group Stage games and senior national team matches. Key issues highlighted include the quality of the playing field, spectator stands, competition areas, and media and medical facilities.
The GFA, along with the National Sports Authority and the clubs, must address these deficiencies to elevate the stadium’s status. Further inspections will occur if the clubs advance to the group stages, ensuring the stadium meets the required standards.
