A resident of Accra, Yeboah, was taken into custody over suspicions of misappropriating funds meant for a construction project. The complainant, based abroad, had entrusted Yeboah with GHS 390,000 for the job. However, when questioned about the progress, Yeboah failed to provide satisfactory answers or evidence of work done, leading the complainant to return to Ghana.
Upon her arrival, the complainant was dismayed to find the construction had not continued as agreed. She confronted Yeboah, who could not account for the funds. Consequently, she reported him to the police, leading to an investigation and Yeboah’s subsequent charge of stealing.
In court, Yeboah’s lawyer pleaded for his client’s family situation and ongoing efforts to settle the matter to be considered. The prosecution didn’t oppose bail but insisted on conditions to ensure Yeboah’s presence during the trial. The court, led by Mr Kwabena Kodua Obiri, granted Yeboah bail and adjourned the case to December 7, 2023.
