The Electoral Commission (EC) has today announced names of candidates to have successfully passed the examinations to run for the presidential race in this year’s general elections.
The EC said only 13 persons out of the 24 who filed nominations to stand as president qualified.
11 people have unfortunately missed on the race for the highest office of the land.
The names to be disqualified include the People’s National Party (PNP) candidate, Janet Nabla, Progressive People’s Party (PPP) candidate, Kofi Asamoah Siaw, and People’s National Convention (PNC) candidate, Bernard Mornah.
Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, Nii Amu Darko, John Enyonam, Nana Stephens Adjepong, Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, and Francis Abrefah, have all also been disqualified.
This was announced in press statement released by the EC this afternoon.
“Following the successful conduct of the Filing of Nominations of 9th September to the 13 of September, 2024, the Commission instituted a thorough examination of the nomination forms submitted by the Candidates to ensure conformity with requirements as set out in law,” the statement noted.

Meanwhile, the EC is expected to hold balloting for the 13 qualified candidates in the 2024 presidential race today, September 20, 2024.
