Kwesi Nyantakyi, former president of the Ghana Football Association, admitted to paying $100,000 out of a demanded $150,000 bribe to investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in 2018, aiming to halt the release of the documentary “Number 12.”

Despite the payment, the documentary was aired, leading to Nyantakyi’s resignation from his FA presidency and other football positions, including the FIFA Executive Council. Nyantakyi disclosed that Anas, represented by lawyer Kwame Gyan, requested the bribe to suppress the documentary.
He claimed to have retrieved the money afterward, despite paying it in installments. Nyantakyi recounted meeting Gyan, who relayed Anas’s demand at his residence.
Nyantakyi sought a refund post-release, which was provided in fragmented payments. He revealed these details while discussing his interest in contesting the Ejisu by-election following the death of MP John Kumah.
