Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong has rebutted Former Ghana player Ransford Osei allegations of embezzlement. Acheampong, known as Fred Achie, vehemently denied receiving $20,000 from Osei in connection to the 2010 World Cup preparations. In a statement released on November 28, 2023, Achieampong challenged Osei to provide evidence supporting his claims or retract and apologize. He emphasized his innocence, stating he neither solicited nor accepted any such sum from Osei.

Osei alleged that he gave $20,000 to Achieampong intended for unnamed GFA officials as gratitude for his 2010 AFCON selection but claimed it was withheld, impacting his chance for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Osei expressed his frustration in an interview, accusing Achieampong of hindering his career. Achieampong, in response, stands firm on his denial and readiness to pursue legal recourse if evidence supporting Osei’s claims is not presented.
