Despite Parliament’s concerns about the short preparation time and their proposal to reschedule to early January, the Ghana Education Service (GES) remains resolute on its reopening date for first-year Senior High School students on December 4, 2023. The decision is aimed at preventing potential inconveniences for students, parents, and other stakeholders. The GES reaffirmed its commitment to this date in a statement on December 2, emphasizing that registration and student orientation are expected to begin from December 4.
Further, the GES clarified the academic calendar, stating that a Christmas break would start on December 21, 2023, and academic activities would resume on January 3, 2024, continuing until March 5, 2024. They expressed their expectation that schools would begin registration and orientation for students from December 4, 2023.
