The Ghana Football Association (GFA) launched the Fourth Edition of the 2024 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship on July 24, 2024. The event, held at the GFA Conference Room, saw significant attendance from GFA officials and KGL Foundation sponsors.
Dr. Ransford Anertey Abbey, representing GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, praised the KGL Foundation’s crucial role in youth football development over the past four years. “KGL Foundation has distinguished itself as the prime supporter of GFA in youth football through their sponsorship of Colts Football,” Dr. Abbey noted, highlighting the Championship’s impact on nurturing young talent.

Since its inception, the Championship has produced top talents for Ghana’s national teams and domestic clubs. Dr. Abbey emphasized the significant contributions of the tournament to shaping the future of national football.
Nii Sarpei, Programmes Manager of KGL Foundation, expressed delight at the progress made and reiterated the company’s commitment to youth development. “We are happy to facilitate the organization of the 4th KGL Foundation U17 Inter-Regional Colts Football tournament,” he said, noting the initiative’s success in unearthing young talents.
The Championship, held at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram from July 25 to August 8, 2024, promotes fair play, teamwork, and sportsmanship. It also provides potential scouting opportunities and emphasizes education alongside football careers. The event will feature young referees from the GFA’s “Catch Them Young” policy, further nurturing future talents.
