The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and the National Identification Authority (NIA) are partnering to register children under 15, starting June 10. This initiative will issue Ghana cards to these children, providing access to healthcare services under the NHIS and acting as official identification. Registration centers will be set up in schools nationwide to streamline the process.

This initiative aims to enhance children’s access to essential healthcare services and enable their participation in various socio-economic activities. The collaboration between NHIA and NIA highlights Ghana’s commitment to broadening social services and building a more inclusive society. Representatives from both agencies emphasized the importance of universal healthcare coverage and the Ghana card’s role in identity verification and access to public services for children aged 6 to 14 years.
