The Black Princesses conceded a goal in each half, including a penalty in the second half. Austria took the lead in the 12th minute through Hannah Fankhauser and extended their advantage to 2-0 in the 71st minute when Nicole Ojukwu converted a penalty, awarded after Asana Alhassan fouled in the box.

Stella Nyamekye scored a late goal in the 91st minute to pull one back for Ghana, but it wasn’t enough to secure a comeback.

Ghana’s next challenge will be against Japan on Thursday, as they look to bounce back and improve their standing in the tournament.
